I wasn’t meaning that as an insult.

For me, at the center of every concept in the Bill of Rights is an emanating penumbra – The Right To Be Left Alone.

You can say what you want. Protect yourself. Be protected from the government interfering in your papers and personal life. Get a quick trial so you can be back on your way, etc.

When people want to start petitioning the government for recognition of new “rights” after 233 years I get irked.

Oh, I’ve seen it all, Brian. I’m truly conservative, by the way. Some people interpret that as social liberalism. I interpret it as limited government interference in my life. In my thought processes, our government exists to keep some order for the benefit of all and to protect us from invasion and one another, including corporate others.

Yea. It’s tantamount to crying that you can’t teach the Civil War because when old, great-granddad lost all of his slaves he was left with nothing. It’s still upsetting to some people. Best not to mention it.

I think there should be a bank of teachers that parents can hire to teach their kids. You call and say I need a math teacher from 10am to 11am. Or have schools that are set up like universities where you pay for specific classes. They could even be the same place. Of course that would require people to be self sufficient…and might create self sufficient kids. That wouldn’t be good for the Nanny state.
