Things that have me extremely pissed off right now…
August 28th, 2009 at 11:41 am by Nigel…I wish I had time to elaborate and go off on a massive rant. I don’t. But I need a quick release and here it is:
1. Hey everyone…did you hear Ted Kennedy died? Now let’s make sure we exploit Teddy’s death to avoid our own accountability and failure.
2. Oh…and turns out Teddy thought that Chappaquiddick was funny.
3. The case for reinstating the death penalty for rapists and cruel sex offenders. Why was this guy ever let out of prison in the first place? :
Garrido has a long rap sheet dating to the 1970s.
He was convicted of kidnapping a 25-year-old woman whom he snatched from a South Lake Tahoe parking lot, handcuffed, tied down and held in a mini-warehouse in Reno, according to a November 1976 story in the Reno Gazette-Journal.
He also has a conviction for rape by force or fear stemming from the same incident, and was paroled from a Nevada state prison in 1988, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
In 1991, police believe he was trolling for victims in South Lake Tahoe in a Ford Granada when he snatched Dugard from a bus stop outside her home. The case attracted national attention and was featured on TV’s “America’s Most Wanted,” which broadcast a composite drawing of a suspect seen in the car.

Greetings:
What I don’t understand about the Garrido/DuGard atrocity is that if Garrido was “on parole” as has been reported in the San Francisco Bay area media, why didn’t his supervision include where he was living and/or working?

It did, apparently. The parole officer visited his home but never noticed the “sheds” out back where he kept the victim and her children. (The satellite view + police remarks indicate the area with the sheds was well hidden behind shrubs etc. – the back yard was huge and apparently you could walk through it without noticing there was this area off to the side, which explains why the parole officer wouldn’t have noticed anything strange.)

Parole, hell. This guy should never have left prison after his FIRST offense. In fact, there are just some times where the bullet-in-the-brain system of justice does in fact work best.
I believe in forgiveness and redemption. But I also believe in evil and then necessary elimination of it. And “rape by force” qualifies as evil. You commit that crime, you should be “eliminated”.

What blows my mind is that the first one he kidnapped was in South Lake Tahoe, and Jaycee was kidnapped in South Lake Tahoe. Sounds like this was his MO. You would think that he was the first one the police would investigate. Shrubs?! That’s total crap. Don’t cops have bloodhounds?
I feel terrible for the parents. The mother’s obvious pain, the stepfather being a suspect for so long. How it must have felt for him to chase them down the road and have to turn back and that being the end of her for 18 years.
I also imagine the horror that child must have felt delivering a baby at 14 with these monsters hovering over her.
