Axelrod: Obama Cool With Van Jones Staying On

September 7th, 2009 at 11:35 am by Brian

Van Hits Bus In Head-On Labor Day collision.

Is there some other way to interpret this?

The resignation of Obama administration figure Van Jones, following controversies over a petition he had signed and his comments about Republicans, did not come at the request of the president, the White House senior adviser said Sunday.

“Absolutely not — this was Van Jones’ own decision,” David Axelrod told NBC’s “Meet the Press” when asked if the president had ordered the resignation.

By allowing Jones to “resign” on his own, this does two things:

1) Allows Obama to not disavow all of the rich, chocolatey nutbag of Jones’ innumerable, embarrassing statements.

2) Leaves the door open to still have Jones act as an informal “advisor” in the future through the groups he founded that the administration will still give funding.

If I ever run for office, by Van Jones’ standard no one can ever take anything that I have ever written on this site and ask me about it.  I said that stuff way back like a couple of months ago.  It’s off limits.  You think I agree with anything I wrote just because I wrote it and put my name on it?  That don’t make no cent.

What is certain at the end of the day is that while the media refused to go into any depth with Jones about his comments and the general acceptance of his forced non-apology apology, you can bet your bottom carbon credit that he will be right back on the Red, Black and Green envirocrap circuit making the exact same comments again in less than a few months.

More Boo-Hoo: Communists Progressives are upset that they won’t be allowed to rattle off 9/11 conspiracy theories, support copkillers and the general overthrow of the government and not still land that big Czar job they always wanted:

“The timing was hideous for Van,” said Paterson, a San Francisco civil rights attorney who hired Jones, a Yale Law School graduate, at her Equal Justice Society organization in the early 1990s and has remained close to him.

“Still, I find it very disturbing that real progressive people with a track record of lots of speeches and actions will find it difficult to speak out,” Paterson said. “That’s going to have a chilling effect on anyone like that who may some day want to serve in public office.”

Chilling effect, eh?  That would explain why Van Jones was always wearing a black turtleneck sweater and a beret.

You can almost hear it now -

“First they came for the communists, then they came for the copkillers, then they came for the 9/11 Truthers and then they came for me but there was no one …hey…wait a second.  I’m all three of those!”

/racist a**holes!

…and there is no joy in Hopeville,
Mighty Van Jones has struck out!

“Heh”, as they are wont to say.
