Perhaps falsely. Perhaps completely true. The media crackdown was after Zelaya's people were going to promote a 3 month anniversary riot to reinstall himself.

I'd say the jury's still out on Lula. With Brazil's oil discovery, he can now afford to start making all kinds of promises and social programs to keep himself in power until he feels like he doesn't love the limelight anymore. Has that ever happened before?

Lula who is throwing gas on the current crisis by hiding Zelaya out in the Brazilian embassy.

Any time you feel like conjuring up a link to the brutal crackdown on "peaceful" Zelaya supporters. The main places I see commenting on the so-called crackdown are lunatic sites like the World Socialist Web and Raw Story as if I'm to make a distinction between the two.

The fact is the only way Zelaya can come back to power is through violence. Cue the rabble rousing teacher's unions, as leftwing in Honduras as they are here. Three protesters have died since Zelaya's peaceful ouster after he tried to make himself dictator for life.

Three protesters egged on by Zelaya interlopers seeking to promote a violent return.

Micheletti must be allowed to setup an election and he should not stay in power either if only to quell.

Anyone who stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Chavez is an enemy of freedom and an enemy of this country.

Compare Brian's conjecture that Zelaya would lead a bloody crackdown if he was returned to office to the reality of the Micheletti regime. Constitutional protections have been suspended, all opposition radio and TV closed down, and peaceful protesters killed. Brian accuses, perhaps falsely, one side of wanting to do what the other side actually is doing.
Constitutional legality may have been initially on the side of those who deposed Mel Zelaya, but morality is probably against them. They represent the economic elite who want to keep all that they have and keep the poor as poor as they are today.
Honduras does not need a Chavez. It needs a Lula da Silva.
