Not Evil Just Wrong
October 17th, 2009 at 10:36 am by MicheleI have a friend who despite her knee-jerk liberalism is quite dear to me. She is convinced that the people who don’t buy into the global climate change belief are a bunch of hayseeds, of course she doesn’t include me in her assessment. I just don’t fit her cartoon image of ignorant right winger. I’d love for her to watch someone with a British accent agree with me. I mean if a British accent can manage to increase sales on ridiculous infomercial crap, it might just work on the global warming kool aid drinkers. Maybe I’ll buy a copy of this documentary for her since her birthday is coming up. She would be so pleased, wouldn’t she?
And if your kids are getting freaked out by their teachers, Animal Planet, and Discovery Channel, this film might be good emotional ammunition to have handy.

Don’t you know this film is just self-serving propaganda, likely paid for by big oil companies, Glenn Beck and others who hate Polar Bears (and would likely bludgeon those furry and lovable creatures if man-made
global warmingclimate change weren’t already killing them all)?Don’t see this movie. Instead, come see me lecture and get the REAL truth. I’ll be in your city soon as my
private jet and air conditioned SUV limosinesmagic super powers enable me to travel anywhere to bring you the truth. I’ll be selling my ACADEMY AWARD WINNING documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” at all of my appearances. What lifestyle changes has your friend made? I bet not very many, or the “I shop at stores that give a portion of sales to charity” variety. Or the “because I drive a hybrid, I can drive twice as much as you” variety.
I am among the few conservatives at my grad school, and I ride the bus or ride my bike to school, own one car for a family of four, set my heat to 62 in the winter (on Lake Erie no less) and get by with used and/or recycled items most of the time. Not because I want to fight Global Warming, but because I am cheap.
Every one of my liberal friends? Drive to school, pay hundreds of dollars for parking spaces, have the newest up-to-date electronic toys, eat out all the time, wouldn’t think of actually using public transportation, set their heat well into the 70s, make absolutely no lifestyle changes or sacrifices whatsoever, etc. Oh, and I get shit from them for riding the bus/ my bike.
Yet I’m the yokel.
