Susan G. Komen had to be reminded that Jewish women get breast cancer too.

Good to see that anti-Semitism is alive and well, even in charity circles.

For me, I am sick of the month long "Hispanic Heritage Month" by the NFL. They even had the referees and announcers doing spanish.

I am all in favor of embracing culture, but would the leftists be ok if we started a "Southern RedNeck Heritage Month"?

Celebrating all things southern, white, and jerry-rigged.

But, hey, not all rednecks live in the south. http://snappedshot.com/turbo/686-Man-Admits-Drunk-Driving-a-Recliner.html

One of my favorite mail order westernwear stores has a "tough enough to wear pink section. But it's off to the side of the website where it doesn't bother anyone. I always look, though because my wife convinced me that a pink shirt goes well with my skin, or is it eye? color. Anyhow, now that I never wear dress shirts anymore I don't know why I keep looking. Oh well, the main thing is, the month is almost over and they'll be bullying us about something else.

I loathe that bright acid pink, and I'm sick of Breast Cancer Month. The calendar is not big enough to accommodate all the diseases that flesh is heir to. Plus Black History Month, Women's History Month, etc ad nausea.

Personally, the only one I endorse is National Pickle Week.

Greetings:

This collecting for charities business annoys me also. My prime aggravator is my local Safeway store. They have apparently conjoined with any number of charities. When I was asked if I wanted to make a contribution, I replied, "If I wanted to contribute to a charity, do you think I would go to a grocery store to do it?" which was probably a little rough on the checkout clerk.

I think that, customer-service-wise, it's an abuse of my custom. The store is basically imposing its agenda on me, and, to whatever minimal degree, retarding my progress. I spent may working days in the printing industry and did not and would not have allowed any of my employees to solicit my customers for any third parties.

My guess is that this trend is some kind of marketing department groupthink project. I imagine that they all went, "Oh, this will help the community and endear us to our customers and move our profit margins upwards and onwards."
And not one of them had the intelligence or nerve to say, "Now, let's just hold on here for a gosh-darned minute."

This probably arose from the same cabal that thought up the idea of asking me, every time I check out, "Do you need help out with your groceries?" To which I reply either, "Do I look like I need help out with my groceries?" or, "No, I'm in better shape than I look."

My response to all the Pink Shakedown Crews is, "Please point me to the Testicular Cancer Awareness Donation Cougher." Testicular Cancer has no special ribbon, nor does it receive even a day's worth of concern or "awareness". Yet, it's 3-times more deadly in men than Breast Cancer is in women.

Call me an Asshole, but, i'm just sayin'...

It could be that women are major retail consumers, and with breast cancer awareness month, companies can make a lot of pink stuff, women can buy it, and everyone can feel good and do something for a worthy cause.
