Who Are The Deniers Now?
December 6th, 2009 at 4:58 pm by CrankyRemember that Star Trek TNG episode where the Klingon Messiah shows up, but Whorf and others figure out that he is a clone phony made from DNA? Well, of course those of you with lives probably don’t. But I’ll continue anyway. Even after the fraud was uncovered, Klingons were still praying to this guy. The high mucky-mucks said that maybe this was a good thing to allow because it gave them hope. It probably was also a jab to all of us God-botherers who seem to cling to faith even as it flies in the face of common sense.
Well that came to mind as I read this:
That position has led some of his colleagues to attack him. This week, several said in Internet posts that such transparency would be unworkable because the matter of climate is too urgent and the stakes too high to allow skeptics to have any influence on policy.
It’s natural that they would cling to their proverbial bibles and guns; they’ve invested all their hope and future earning in this.
