The Global Warming Six Legged Monster

December 12th, 2009 at 5:22 pm by Cranky

Here’s a great read on why the Global Warming Climate Change beast will be so hard to kill.

As you can see, very little has to do with science as any endeavor would when people realize there is quite a bit of personal enrichment at stake. It’s not just the money. Power, prestige and quite possibly the hope of getting laid in some far-away international conference also motivate these types.

(1) The big money climate change scientists and their powerful institutions from governmental centers to Universities,

(2) The United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which is a Geneva-based, highly funded bureaucracy controlled by one-world government political activists,

(3) Environmentalists who seek to use threats of climate chaos to stop the use of fossil fuels and return to a simpler, more “natural”, primitive lifestyle,

(4) Government at all levels whose political leaders find dealing with global warming is their opportunity to save us all from disaster cementing their status and success,

(5) The media populated by people who love to warn us of impending disaster and give us the advice we need to cope, who believe in Al Gore and his political party and who know that “the sky is falling” is the best headline of them all,

(6) Al Gore, who uses his status as a successful former Senator and Vice President to provide a platform to promote his message of doom and gloom, a message he learned in his only college science class and must have truly believed for many years but should see now is only an empty threat.

The legs are actually very tentacle-like in that they snake their way through quite a few agendas.

Enviro-whackos used to be the Globalization whackos and the Worker’s whackos before that. Their goal has been a constant anti-Western attack against societies that permit people to pursue the dirty “P” word profit and personal prosperity.

Likewise, politicians of the UN and our own Left would love to curb quaint notions of representative Democracy and self-sufficiency as only enlightened nobles can really take care of us.

No one believes that more than the MSM, who stream constant stories of the one-legged diabetic who was turned away from medical care at Christmas because heartless Conservatives cut the program.

And finally, Al Gore. What more needs to be said about this modern-day Medicine Show?

All of this is made possible by humanity, who I’m convinced is hard wired to fear the sky falling down. We’ve been the same since the times when we sacrificed our children to satisfy some angry sky-god because some slick-tongued shaman convinced us that we were inciting his wrath.

We also have no short-term memory. Otherwise this whole affair would be laughable in light of the threats of nuclear winter, global cooling and overpopulation which by the estimates of respected scientists of the time, would have had us living 12 deep in a refrigerator box sometime around 1983.

Anyway, read the whole thing as they say.

My belief is that these environmental organizations want one group of humans to sacrifice on behalf of another group of humans, not with an end result of improving the conditions of those who suffer, but simply to reduce the population in both groups, otherwise every village would have one of Dean Kamen’s water purifiers. The first comment after this video sums it up in my mind.

We have the brainpower and technology to really help and improve the lives of everyone.

  2. Lawrence Baker Says:

Global Warming-IS- Human / Industrial Pollution
The best indisputable SCIENCE example that should be the #1 item on the Copenhagen Agenda would be the toxic waste dump, the size of Texas, 900 miles off of the United States and Canadian West Coast.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GreatPacificGarbagePatch
That is a Big SCIENCE problem with no dedicated U.S SCIENCE and INNOVATION DEPARTMENT to address the issue. The U.S (or Canada) has not even sent out a SCIENCE research vessel to evaluate this ecological disaster; neither country wants to take the responsibility for the industrial/human pollution or even acknowledge its existence.
No Profit-No Action!-No SCIENCE! Will the World Trade Organization and the New Industrial World Order address the issue? Where is their World SCIENCE Department?
Can the problem be solved with SCIENCE? Probably so, Americans are very ingenious primarily because we were raised with the compliments of Freedom and Democracy and are free thinking individuals. We could probably figure a way to clean up the mess and possibly make a profit doing so.
We can do nothing until we have a DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE that is free to address SCIENCE and to develop the advancement of SCIENCE. (Yes, for the sake of humanity; SCIENCE FIRST-PANDERING SECOND.)

  3. Thelonious Funk Says:

I find the utter lack of self awareness in the climate change skeptics crowd to be quite remarkable.

Supposedly Al Gore and the global warming folks are in it for the money and the whole one world government thing.

Have you never taken a look at the existing multi-national energy corporations? You’ve got all the money-grubbing one-world stuff you could ever want right there. Those are the guys with all the money, and they’ve clearly been yanking the chains of world leaders of every political persuasion for decades. Want a taxpayer-funded war to reign in control of the Iraqi oil fields? Can do!

Even if climate change science were a ruse (which it’s not), it would be a ruse set up to break up the vast energy cartels who really do control everything. Turning everything upside down and calling the climate change folks the money-grubbing one-worlders is a bit like teenage kids who predictably hand over their cash to big tobacco and start up a lifelong addiction thinking they’re rebelling against The Man.

P.S. I think the emphasis on the term “climate change” over the term “global warming” is mostly because of the fact that many people seem to think that every time there’s a day that’s colder than the average for that location that they have proof that global warming doesn’t exist. That’s a bit like taking a one-second measurement of the hog futures market and extrapolating that to expound on long-term trends in the global economy, but most people don’t seem to get that.

  4. michele Says:

I don’t think self-awareness is a necessary trait for a scientist to have. Science is based upon objective fact without an emotional human component. If the numbers don’t add up, then the hypothesis isn’t proven. If there’s evidence that they’ve been tampered with, then scientists must speak up with the truth and then ask why. There is currently evidence that the data has been tampered with. Why would climate scientists do that?

So who should we grant the power to break up these “energy cartels”? Is there an entity we can trust to grant us our light and power? Can we trust them not to use it as a method of wielding control over our lives? These corporations are supported by stockholders, average Joes from up the street. What happens to them? How many people would be out of a job? What would that do to the economy? Or the everyday lives of people around the world? There’s a domino effect and it could unravel Western and world civilization as we know it.

A certain amount of scrutiny is called for with so much at stake, and shouldn’t be frowned upon.

And it’s certainly preferable to ignoring sensible arguments, to call each other names, and fight like a bunch of children. That’s a surefire way to fall divided.

  5. Thelonious Funk Says:

Michele, the self-awareness comment refers mostly to the chatter on the right that is fabricating the story about a conspiracy among climate scientists to make things up in a diabolical effort to make billions and take over the world. The creators of this conspiracy theory will glom on to the smallest thing to substantiate their delusions while turning a blind eye to the obvious fact that the current energy industry is already making billions off of fossil fuels and will spend quite a bit to create flak that helps them preserve their income stream.

As for self-awareness among scientists, you’re referencing this hacked email red herring that’s out there. The truth is, even scientists are human. The comments and hostility gleaned from the climate scientists’ emails are based on the fact that no matter the vast volumes of data and information they find that substantiates the case for human-caused climate change, the loonies will take whatever tidbits they can find or create, spin them out of context, ignore actual science and spin tales that gain inordinate traction in creating a case against the actual science.

In truth, the climate scientists are working against conspiracy theorists. It doesn’t matter how much science you’ve got on your side when arguing with a conspiracy theorist. So yeah, climate scientists will communicate irritably with one another on how to frame their information in the best way to fend off the loonies who will inevitably make things up to attack it. That’s what those emails are about. Now, once again, since someone illegally hacked their email accounts, the loonies have some tidbits they can take out of context and use to create more nonsense.

Buzz Aldrin once punched out a loony who got in his face and said he’d never been to the moon. Aldrin probably shouldn’t have done that, but really, I can understand why he would get frustrated about it occasionally and act, well, human.

  6. Thelonious Funk Says:

Oh, and as for granting someone power to break up energy cartels and your question asking “Is there an entity we can trust to grant us our light and power?” You’re still being completely self-unaware. Who are Exxon, Shell and BP? What is OPEC? These are the guys you’re trusting and granting already to bring you your light and power. Do they have your best interests in mind? Do they have no motivation to keep you filling up at the pumps? Do they respect American sovereignty? Why do you get wound up about Al Gore and a bunch of scientists, but not notice the man behind the curtain?

Honestly, I do not understand “free market” people who rail against government intervention and regulation, but who blindly yield to monolithic corporate interests. These big boys do not care about democracy, and they do not care about free markets for anyone but themselves. They do not hesitate to use their financial and political advantages to squash any small business that might crop up and threaten any portion of their bottom line. And just as big tobacco spent vast sums to cast doubts on science that proves the ill effects of smoking, big energy is currently doing the same to confuse matters around climate science.

There is decades worth of science that is peer-reviewed and held to rigorous standards that supports the case for human-generated climate change. There is next to nil that meets those same rigorous standards that refutes the case. Nonetheless, you and others are willing to take a few jabs in some emails out of context and assert that none of the science is genuine. At the same time, you hold the aginners up to no standards to prove their case. What gives? That’s the lack of self-awareness that I’m talking about.

  7. Michele Says:

The thing is, they don’t sound like “loonies” to me. The arguments are reasonable and the data seems sound. Some scientists and politicians are running around waving their arms wildly and screaming that the sky is falling. The “loonies” are shaking them by the shoulders and saying “get a hold of yourself man!”

Some simple data. Make of it what you will.

As for the argument about how the climate scientists are battling the conspiracy theorists, and how no amount of good science can seem to quell the skeptics-I see the reverse as true. The climate scientists are fighting from a position of strength, they have the power to shut the opposition up. Many good scientists have been ousted for disagreeing with popular opinion. They have made sure journals have gone unpublished etc. Info about that can be found in the emails.

People shouldn’t be lied to in order to force the world into some sort of utopian dream. No matter how wonderful it sounds for all of us to live peacefully together, growing our gardens, dispensing with materialism, conserving our planet etc. It should be an individual decision and not forced by a government entity.

About the theory that the idea that a vast group of leaders wants to control the world, really what’s so crazy about that, in our global society? It’s more likely now than ever with people coming together for good or ill. Social engineering schemes have been tried by individual countries before with disastrous consequences to millions of people.

Pol Pot dreamed of an anti-corporate, environmental utopia. He killed all of the skeptics that stood in his way. I bring him up a lot I know, but humans are humans and the evil the power hungry can perpetrate on average people for the sake of the “greater good” is not something out of history. We should keep a watch out for those who will try to hoodwink us into giving up liberty.

  8. Michele Says:

Self-unaware is your favorite insult. I don’t know where you ever got the idea that I had a love affair with monolithic corporations. I simply asked you who you would grant power over them, and by what methods should they be broken up. Then I asked whether there would be a disastrous consequence. But you don’t answer. You instead tell me that I am self-unaware.

  9. Thelonious Funk Says:

Not an insult, but an observation. You worry about one group that might do something bad and seem not to observe that another already is doing exactly what you’re afraid of.

You cite “data,” at some opinion blog. Try looking at actual scientific sources: http://www.nature.com/climate/archive/subject_climate-s18_2009.html?lang=en

  10. Lawrence Baker Says:

SCIENCE and the advancement of SCIENCE is what the multinational corporations fear the most. Under the smokescreen of global warming today, the politicos are under pressure to sign over our sovernigity to multinational corporate wind farms. SCIENCE?-Who needs all those pest birds? In fact, your next American.
Fact: American green energy innovation and ingenuity, science really, hasn’t been funded since 2001.
    http://www.eere.energy.gov/inventions
New renewable energy inventors have no stimulus grant money to develop their inventions. The Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and in particular, Dr. Chu, has snuffed any new green energy advancements. Their agenda is to do research and development of product line for the multinational corporations and keep American innovation down.
Old patented science advancements in green energy inventions (outmoding fossil fuels) were bought up by the multinational corporations and kept off of the market so that they would not upset their New World Manufacturing Order agenda. The last World conquer was Hitler.
Yes, it is a win- win for Communist China and the multinational corporations and a loss- loss for Democracy and Freedom and the American people. Remember, the American manufacturing base moved to China for cheap labor; (graduate engineer $7,000 a year and most everyone else $700 a year) their allegiance is now with Communist China.
Bush played the bad cop, Obama plays the good cop, but the fact is we are still on the same agenda. There is no change, the free press is gone. The treason of the multinational corporations and their owned and controlled congress continues. There will be no rebuilding of America’s manufacturing capabilities from the ground up with new inventions. There will only be more debt for the American people and dominance of our government by the multinational corporations New World Order agenda.
Ask your government representatives WHY there is no funding for new inventions (advancement in science) to build a new American economy.

  11. Thelonious Funk Says:

Try this out for size – more actual scientific writing:
    http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn11462-climate-change-a-guide-for-the-perplexed.html

  12. Brian Says:

You’ve got to love tautological arguments. The scientists said it and their peers reviewed it! The “peers” who they coopted, silenced and replaced with sympathizers.

“I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report,” Jones wrote. “Kevin and I will keep them out somehow — even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!”

As if there is some “fruit of the forbidden tree” standard in the court of public opinion that renders what is obviously the work of an internal whistleblower null and void.

Those circular arguments fall in nicely behind the “The only faith my secular Christ Al Gore cannot be shaken because e-mails from the people who decided the urgency of Global Warming were STOLEDID@11!!!!!” They have no faith in god, science-dammit! But a fat, fucking draft dodger who got his rich daddy to get his shutterbugging ass out of Vietnam so he could fail out of Vanderbilt Divinity school (where his daddy also taught) is a font of Scientific Wisdom.

For 30 years Prince Chicken Little PowerPoint has been running around preaching The Sky Is Falling and he doesn’t even know how hot the earth’s core is. He sees Man-Made Global Warming in his gelato melting as he jets around the world reading gay poems.

    One thin September soon
    A floating continent disappears
    In midnight sun

    Vapors rise as
Fever settles on an acid sea
    Neptune’s bones dissolve

    Snow glides from the mountain
Ice fathers floods for a season
    A hard rain comes quickly

    Then dirt is parched
Kindling is placed in the forest
    For the lightning’s celebration

    Unknown creatures
    Take their leave, unmourned
    Horsemen ready their stirrups

    Passion seeks heroes and friends
    The bell of the city
    On the hill is rung

    The shepherd cries
The hour of choosing has arrived
    Here are your tools

For fuck’s sake, that is some sonorous gaybait and evidence of a man who has insulated himself from criticism for so long that he shit that prose into both hands, held it high and waited for everyone to praise it. And you did.

Go stare at the rings on the trees, moron. If I were Michele, I’d take your fuckfacey little comment about Buzz Aldrin punching loonies as a threat. And for that alone, drop the banhammer like Mighty Fucking Thor square between your already-too-close inbred eyes.

After all, I’m only human. Scream at the spam filter all day long.

  13. michele Says:

You treat me as if I haven’t been inundated with climate change science for the past 20 years.

  14. Preston Taylor Holmes Says:

This discussion has inspired me to come out of retirement and post again.

  15. Guaman Says:

There is a very large vested interest in pushing the climate change issue within government. This has even reached the point of carbon sequestration software used by USDA. Don’t believe me – go to USDA.gov and read the press releases. This is your tax dollars pursuing an unproven solution to unverified problem with your money. Each of those papers and releases represents the paid effort of either a government employee or a contracted or grant funded researcher.

It’s your government and you have no choice but to support this activity – see the IRS for mandatory contributions. With the multi-national energy corporations you have a choice to buy their product or go off the grid or whatever. That is a non-option with the government.

The government does not always know what is best for me, and if they did, I’d still prefer to make the decision myself even if it is wrong.

    It’s freedom.

  16. Thelonious Funk Says:

Talk about circular arguments… You take your dislike of Al Gore, combine it with a few offhand comments by a very small number scientists and use that to argue that all the vast science that disagrees with your predetermined point of view is false. Ain’t that something. Please see my earlier comments about conspiracy theorists and science. And just don’t go on any long hikes. You might fall off the edge of the Earth.

  17. michele Says:

Might fall off the edge of the Earth?!

I get from you that it is blasphemous to look at other data (by actual climate scientists, and polar bear experts etc.) and that it is not reputable unless it is part of majority opinion and published in the right magazine. That attitude is more akin to zealotry than real science.

Once upon a time a pseudo scientific majority felt the world was flat and was the center of the universe. The majority had to make sure the data supported their hypothesis because it was blasphemous to disagree. The self righteous of the day killed a rational man who disputed popular science. I’m sure his science was ridiculed by those in power. You would have been right there with them, T Funk.

You have an innate unwillingness to look at both sides of the science and make it an emotional issue rather than one of logic. I mean chuck years of studying ice core data if it doesn’t align with your beliefs, and doesn’t work to punish your personal Satan.

Oh, I forgot. You are self aware. My mistake.

  18. Lawrence Baker Says:

Fact: For the last two years, there has been over 500,000 Americans who file for employment benefits per WEEK.
    http://www.dol.gov/opa/media/press/eta/ui/current.htm
I am interested from a SCIENCE point of view how that number can be equated to mean that there are only 11,000 a MONTH job loss. The mathematics involved must be quite something!
If you add in the illegal emigrants, the real number of unemployed in the United States is so astounding—you wouldn’t believe me–you will have to figure it out for yourself.
