At the risk of undermining your point, that lines are a form of rationing, I live in Cali and I haven’t been anywhere near the DMV in years and years. Since I was deported out here in ’83, I have been in the DMV three times. I don’t know what difficulties the pictured people are having with the DMV, but I handle most transactions via the US Postal Service. But, I certainly agree that no line is fun and, when you’re feeling poorly, it’s much worse.

Here’s the problem with that analogy 11b…you can’t do health care by USPS. I do most of my DMV stuff online now…haven’t been to a DMV office since ’97.
Alas, you can’t do health care online either.
Lines are not a form of rationing…rationing forms lines (heh).

I’m sorry. I thought this was a breadline. Food is more important than healthcare isn’t it?
The model of efficiency that Post Office. 50 cents a letter for something that’s being phased out by e-mail. Most places have cut back delivery. You pay a mailman $70,000+ a year to work from 9 am to 3 pm for 5 days a week.
I haven’t waited in a DMV line that long in years but I shop around to different locations. The last time I went to one of the bigger ones in Nashville I felt out of place as I wasn’t a) a Somali warlord, b) an illegal alien with my 5 kids, c) a Haitian refugee.
Yes, Virginia that is Nashville, Tennessee. Home of Conway Twitty and the sequine mines.

They must already have healthcare rationing, and perhaps death panels, in CA. Where are all of the old, disabled, and obese in that line?

Michele, I’d bet my California State Tax Refun…er…IOU the majority of those in line are illegal aliens picking up their easy to obtain California ID cards.

I had been waiting in line for 30 minutes already, BEFORE I took this picture. DMV experience Total Wait Time, from start to finish: 2 hours and 10 minutes.
