Bummer, Wicked.

I am so glad I was able to see Elton about 10 years ago...one of my favorite concerts. He still burned the house down with Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting...

You old bastards.

My whole childhood was Elton John. I love the guy. He can be as crazy, gay, and unpredictable as wants to be.

I am in Tucson for a month and he cancelled out one night last week...getting a ticket for the second night was impossible. Too bad.

Regarding Elton's bomb against Miller, he DID say this:

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion"

He's certainly been odd over the years, but he was hands-down my favorite child-hood musician (I wore OUT "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only The Piano Player" and "Rock of the Westies"). He's always been genuine...even if I don't agree with his politics.

What he showed in Arizona is he always puts his fans first.

Tom Petty is the same way. He was interviewed for Rolling Stone three or four years ago and asked specifically about his politics...he said something along the lines of "you can probably figure out where I stand, but why would I piss off half of my audience by interjecting my political views? The aren't paying $100 for a concert ticket to hear me criticize the government, they come to my shows to ROCK."

That was EXTREMELY paraphrased...if I have time later I'll find the interview and exact quote.

Nigel, you've been on fire lately (as opposed to flaming). First I liked Elton John, then when he quit rock and roll to do love songs, I hated him. Then he came out with Too Low For Zero and I liked him again. Then he dissed Dennis Miller and I hated him. Now this. It's cool to listen to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road again.
